Several offices are moving to the Campus Center for the fall in order to enhance students’ ability to use their services and resources.

The Campus Center is the new home for the Center for the Study of Culture, Race, and Ethnicity, as well as a safe space for multicultural students. Both will be housed in renovated space on the third floor of the Campus Center, with occupancy scheduled for Fall 2016. “We are looking forward to being centrally located on campus so that our offices can be accessible to more students and the CSCRE further integrated into daily campus life.” states Dr. Belisa Gonzalez, Director of CSCRE). Dr. Roger Richardson, Interim Chief Diversity Officer, adds, “The intent of the dedicated “safe space” is to serve as a physical and emotional space for multicultural students to engage, retreat, and support each other for self-empowerment.”

Additionally, a new satellite office for the Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management will open in Fall 2016, located in the Campus Center lobby. Campus satellite offices, or substations, are a longstanding, widely recognized tool for fostering community oriented policing and strengthening relationships between the campus police and the community it serves. The Public Safety Satellite Office will provide a conveniently located, highly visible platform and presence for building positive and meaningful relationships, promoting positive engagement, and encouraging partnership building for problem solving.  Look for news and notices on the opening of the satellite office as well as opportunities to provide input on the hours that Public Safety will staff the office, including the types of services and programming you would like to see offered at the satellite location.

The Center for Civic Engagement, currently housed in the Campus Center, will move to the Garden Level of the Peggy Ryan Williams Center.
