Ithaca College is replacing Sakai with the Canvas learning management system beginning with the Fall 2021 semester. Data within your Sakai project site(s) will need to be manually moved by the site creator or a maintainer to another platform, such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft SharePoint, or alternate solutions. If your Sakai project site is no longer needed, it can be archived, self-deleted, or deleted upon request.

The First Bomber Weekend Committee is looking for staff, faculty and students to participate in the planning process for Fall 2021. First Bomber weekend will take place September 3rd- September 6th. The committee will work collaboratively to plan events for all students over the long weekend. If you are interested in joining the committee, we meet every Wednesday at 3pm starting June 2nd. To join, please fill out an interest form. If your office would like to host an event during First Bomber weekend in collaboration with the committee, please fill out the programming form. If you have questions regarding FBW you can contract eharrington@ithaca.edu

As we begin to wrap-up this spring semester, we are already looking forward to welcoming our new and returning students to South Hill in the fall. We are anticipating a move-in to the residence halls that looks and feels a little closer to what we have traditionally done in the past, which has always been an incredible way to welcome our students to campus. We need the support of all our community members to make this a successful move-in!

What do you need to know? 

  • Action is required to manually move, archive, or delete your Sakai project sites by August 31.
  • All Sakai project sites will become read-only with limited access effective September 1.
  • All Sakai project sites will be permanently deleted on January 1, 2022.

As an update to the message recently sent our regarding Dana Professorship applications, we are expanding our offering to three new professorships and extending the deadline to May 14, 2021 for applications.  

Candidates must complete all materials (i.e. application form, current CV, narrative and references) and send them to mataylor@ithaca.edu by May 14, 2021. A selection committee consisting of one representative from each School will review applications and make recommendations for approval to the Provost.  Awards will be announced no later than June 1, 2021. Three professorships to begin in AY 2021-22 will be awarded.

Zahra Vieneuve, a global human rights activist, will be joining the Fundamental Film Screening Wrap-Up event to discuss gender justice issues from around the world and how impunity allows for these issues to continue.

Ithaca College is looking for volunteers on May 8th to have a presence in the community and provide support to students on a day that in the past has typically involved mass gatherings, most commonly known as Kendall Day. Volunteers will be stationed at different locations around Pennsylvania Ave. and Kendall Ave. The main goal of volunteers is to redirect people going to Kendall and Pennsylvania, offering alternative options and providing support. As a community we have worked very hard to keep COVID-19 cases low. Those that volunteer will be helping to keep our community safe.
