Professor Kal Telage, senior author, in collaboration with graduate research assistant Crystal Wheeler and two colleagues, professors Barbara Johnson and Janet Wigglesworth, presented a paper at the Association of Schools of Allied Health Professions in Baltimore, Maryland, in October 2008. Jason Dickens Memorial Award

This award is given in honor of Jason Dickens, who was an Ithaca College Biology major. Jason achieved an outstanding record while at Ithaca, being named to the Dean’s List every semester. He was also caring, dedicated and motivated. Jason hoped to attend medical school and to use his talents to serve society as a physician.

Tragically he was the victim of a boating accident in the summer of 1998 before he had an opportunity to realize his goals and fully utilize his talents. This award is given in his memory and honor.

Requirements:

• Must be a Junior Majoring in Biology or Biochemistry
• Must Have an Overall GPA Over 3.5
• Must Be Committed to a Future in Science
• Submit a 250 Word Essay Describing Future Goals and Aspirations

Submit an essay and unofficial transcript by March 3 to Dr. Susan Swensen 254 CNS.

A $500 prize is awarded each semester by the Premed Committee. The award is to be used for assistance with preparation for the required standardized exams associated with admittance to graduate health programs such as the MCAT, DAT, OAT, or GRE.

The deadline to apply is March 2, 2009.
