The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies Leisure studies is currently accepting applications for the 2018 Immersion Semester Program (ISP). The ISP is a domestic study awaywilderness-based, semester program focused on leadership development while rock climbing, backpacking, whitewater rafting and mountaineering in California and Oregon.

Carlo Goldoni’s play, "A Servant of Two Masters," is set to take the Earl McCarroll Studio Theatre stage in Ithaca College’s Dillingham Center. This classic of the commedia dell-arte style has been adapted by co-directors Freddy Villano and Paula Murray Cole, along with the company of actors. Performances will be held on April 14, 15, 21, and 22 at 8:00 pm, and at 2:00 pm on April 15, 16 and 22.

CSTEP student Dallas Fonseca ’18 and Dr. Orlando-Marquez C. Kittrell, founding director of the Office of State Grants (OSG) both presented to packed rooms at the 25th Annual CSTEP Statewide Student Conference which was held April 7-9, 2017 at The Sagamore on Lake George in Bolton Landing, NY. The theme was "Journeys Beyond Excellence" and included over 500 participants.

Dallas (Mathematics, Biochemistry) was supported with his research presentation by assistant professor Dr. Te-Wen Lo from the Department of Biology in the School of Humanities and Sciences and by assistant professor Zachary Campbell from the Department of Biological Sciences in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Texas at Dallas.  Dallas presented “The Role of Specificity in the Emergence of Post-transcriptional Regulons in Germline Development.”  Notably, Dallas won the top Life Sciences II award at the conference for his student research presentation.

Journalists who pursued life and death stories inside American prisons and scandalous efforts to suppress voting will be honored at 7pm, Wednesday, April 12 in Emerson Suites.

In a banner year for exceptional journalism from non-corporate outlets, the Izzy Award judges are honoring Ari Berman of The Nation for revealing voter suppression targeting people of color and youth, and Shane Bauer of Mother Jones (“My Four Months as a Private Prison Guard”) and Seth Freed Wessler of The Nation Institute’s Investigative Fund for exposing abuse and avoidable deaths inside U.S. for-profit prisons.

A special documentary honor is being conferred on filmmakers who created “America Divided,” a docu-series illuminating issues of U.S. structural inequality such as environmental racism and mass incarceration.

 The Ithacan has been named the Best College Newspaper in New York State for 2016 by the New York Press Association. The award, the NYPA's top collegiate honor, was announced April 8 at the organization's annual convention at the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Ithacan Editor-in-Chief Kayla Dwyer ’17, Webmaster Evan Sobkowicz ’17 and Proofreader Ben Gaynor ’17 attended the convention and accepted the award on behalf of the paper. The award was for work produced during calendar year 2016 (Kira Maddox ’16, spring editor-in-chief; Kayla Dwyer ’17, fall editor-in-chief).

The club Ithaca College Unites For HER participates in fundraising efforts to provide a grant to any student, faculty, staff or immediate family member of theirs affected by breast cancer. This grant is to help pay for integrative, complementary therapies to help those who are going through or have gone through breast cancer treatment. These therapies include acupuncture, yoga classes, massage therapy, and nutrition counseling among others. Apply to participate in OSEMA's Summer Service trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, taking place in May 13 to May 20, 2017!  Summer Service trips are week-long opportunities for students to start out their summers with some community service.  We are still seeking a student to help serve as a driver for our trip to Milwaukee where we will focus on food justice and poverty alleviation with the nationally renowned urban farm, Growing Power, Inc. Participants will have time to see and explore the greater Milwaukee area as well!Drivers receive a 50% reduction in their trip fee!
