7:00 p.m. Ithaca Holiday Inn Some faculty members in the School of Humanities and Sciences will be reacquainting themselves with the dictionary this week, as they prepare to take part in the "Scrabble for Literacy" fund-raiser being held by Literacy Volunteers of Tompkins County (LVTC). The event will pit teams of Scrabble players against one another to support LVTC's adult literacy initiatives. Scrabble for Literacy combines the fun of playing a game everyone knows with the goal of raising funds for an organization whose mission is to help people learn to read. Participants will sit at tables of eight and play Scrabble as a team. The team with the highest single score after three rounds will be declared the champion. The donation to sponsor a table is $250.00, while individuals can join in for $35.00. "Our team is generously sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Office of the Dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences," say team organizers Sarah Rubenstein-Gillis, an instructor in the Department of Sociology, and Gregory Tomso, an assistant professor in the Department of English. "We are committed to literacy education in Tompkins County, and are delighted to take part in this event that allows Ithaca College to contribute to our local community."
