The Student Activities Board Speakers Committee is proud to sponsor Jean Kilbourne, "Lecturer of the Year," National Association for Campus Activities.

"Advertising is an over $200-billion-a-year industry. We are each exposed to over 3,000 ads a day. The ads sell a great deal more than products. They sell values, images, and concepts of success and worth, love and sexuality, popularity and normalcy. Sometimes they sell addictions."

Kilbourne is an internationally acclaimed media critic, author, and filmmaker, known for her award-winning films Killing Us Softly, Calling the Shots, Slim Hopes, and Pack of Lies.

The speech will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at 8:00 p.m. in the Emerson Suites. The event is free and is open to the public.
