Ithaca College presents
The Ability Awareness Fair-- Taking the "Dis" out of Disability

Tuesday, April 29, 2003.

The fair will take place in the Ithaca College Emerson Suites from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Pat Malik, the keynote speaker, will present from noon until 1:00 pm.

The goal of the fair is to address different issues related to disabilities. Malik will speak about the issue of disabilities and addressing the stereotypes often associated with them. Malik has a strong background in therapeutic recreation and is President of Malik Companies, Ltd which provides programs and services to persons with disabilities.

Local organizations will have information booths about their activities in the community and opportunities to get involved. Organizations scheduled to appear include Racker Center, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Longview, Ithaca College Community Service Office, and many more.

The Ithaca College Program Planning Class, as a part of their curriculum, organizes the fair. Members of the class will plan and execute the entire event.

Parking in the Ithaca College visitor lot is free and refreshments will be served.
