Roger W. Hecht, writing, has published The Erie Canal Reader: 1790-1950, from Syracuse University Press -- a collection of poems, travel narratives, and fiction on the Erie Canal by major British and American writers such as Frances Trollope, Charles Dickens, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Samuel Hopkins Adams.
