Ithaca Wins Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Regular-Season Title

Senior Jessica Welch scored six points on five goals and an assist to lead Ithaca to a 20-6 win over Hartwick. The victory clinched the Empire 8 regular-season title for the Bombers, who earned the right to host this weekend's conference tournament.

Ithaca (seeded first) and Hartwick (the fourth seed) will face each other again, playing in Friday's semifinals at noon. Second-seeded Nazareth faces third-seeded St. John Fisher at 2:30 p.m. in Friday's other semifinal. The championship game is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs; all three games will be at Ithaca's Carp Wood Field.
