It is with a great deal of sadness that I must inform the Ithaca College community of the death of one of our students.
Gregory Shoben, a sophomore in the School of Humanities and Sciences, took his own life on Wednesday, August 27, in Painesville, Ohio. I know that the entire College community joins with me in extending our deepest condolences to Gregory's family and friends for their tragic loss.
Community members are invited to attend an interfaith memorial service to remember Gregory's life on Wednesday, September 3, at 5:00 p.m. in Muller Chapel on campus.
A politics major, Gregory was involved with WICB radio and had transferred to Ithaca College from Eastern Washington University. He was a native of Champaign, Illinois, and a graduate of Centennial High School.
The staff of the Ithaca College Counseling Center and the College chaplains are available to provide support to members of the College community needing assistance. For information on depression, stress, anxiety, and other issues, contact the Counseling Center at 274-3136.
