Kelli B. Grant '04 was one of 14 student reporters nationwide selected to participate in the Associated Press "Diverse Voices/Diverse Visions" program in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 8-12. Fifteen student photographers also participated in the program, in which the students were paired with AP editors and sent out on assignment.

Grant worked with Tamara Starks, broadcast editor in the AP Chicago bureau, and Jackie Larma, an AP staff photographer in Philadelphia and former Jerusalem bureau chief.

Her assignment, reporting on the role of guitars in Nashville, allowed her to explore the city during the weeklong program -- visiting the Gibson guitar factory, music stores, guitar shops, and even the guitar-shaped pool at a hotel Elvis frequented. The rest of her time was spent attending nightly program workshops and writing critiques.

Program participants may later be recommended for Associated Press internships and jobs.
