The Office of Multicultural Affairs presents Johanna Bermudez Ruiz' film Vieques: Un Pueblo Forjando Futuros /An Island Forging Futures, on Monday, October 6, at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 103. This 17 minute documentary film demonstrates part of the peaceful resistance movement against the U.S. Navy bombing practices on the island of Vieques, a sister island of Puerto Rico.

Longtime activist Mary Anne Grady Flores will lead a discussion about the film as well as share her experiences of joining a delegation in May 2000, where she participated with hundreds of other Puerto Ricans acting as human shields to prevent the bombings in Vieques.
