An event to remember and honor Edward Said will be held at Ithaca College Thursday, October 9, at 7:00 p.m. in Emerson Suite A, Phillips Hall.
The observance will include a 30-minute video, short readings from selections of his work, and performances of Middle Eastern and classical European music and poetry in his memory. Nikolai Ruskin, director of the Cornell Middle East Music Ensemble, will play Middle Eastern music. Refreshments will be served.
Professor Edward Said died on Wednesday, September 24, after years of battling leukemia. The politics and sociology departments invite the Ithaca community to join them in honoring this courageous public intellectual and prolific, path-breaking scholar.
If you would like to sign-up to share a reading, reflections, or music to honor Professor Said, contact Beth Harris. Please limit your presentation to no more than 10 minutes.
