Sandra L. Herndon, professor and graduate program chair of the Park School's communications program, is the recipient of the 2003 Jack Lewis Award for Exemplary Service to Community Members in Crisis.

For the last nine years, Suicide Prevention & Crisis Service has honored the work and role model of the late Rev. Jack Lewis, cofounder of SPCS, by presenting an award in his name. Professor Herndon accepted the award at the annual SPCS meeting on October 19. The award acknowledges her many years of service not only to SPCS but also to several other community organizations where she has served in leadership roles and given multiple workshops and presentations over the last 20 years.
