Pianist Kunyoung Kim, a newly appointed assistant professor of music performance, will present a free recital on Thursday, November 6. The concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the Whalen Center.

Kim will perform Mozart's Duport Variations in D, Beethoven's "Appassionata" sonata, and Chopin's Second Sonata, which contains the famous funeral march.

"Returning to teach at Ithaca College means a lot to me," says Kim, a 1993 graduate of the School of Music. "The nurturing environment at Ithaca has helped me form who I am as a person and as a musician. It feels very good to be back home."

Kim has performed at the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Mozart Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; international workshops in Graz, Austria; and with the Russian Federal Orchestra at the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory.

Prior to her appointment at Ithaca, she taught at SUNY Potsdam. She earned her doctorate in piano performance at the Eastman School of Music and her master's degree from the University of Maryland. She did postgraduate work at the Moscow Conservatory in Russia.
