The College has initiated a review of the current student administrative system with the goal of providing the IC community with a quality of service that lives up to our vision to be the standard of excellence among comprehensive institutions.
"prepare and implement a plan for modernization of Ithaca's student information systems and services that, through its design and service improvements, will significantly propel Ithaca toward its goal to become the standard of excellence among comprehensive colleges. The systems solution must be capable of embracing new and future technologies, be readily upgradeable, integrate well with other information systems, and enable the highest quality of service to all College constituencies to attract, enroll, house, teach, retain, communicate, build and sustain a relationship with students and maintain records related to their education and campus experience."The implementation of a new student information system will affect nearly every member of the Ithaca College community. Your input in this process is valuable. To that end, there will be every effort made to keep the College community informed of the process as it unfolds. This notice is the first of a series of updates that will be provided. There also will be a website available with up-to-the-minute status information about the study as it progresses. In addition, the project team plans to conduct a series of public forums for students, faculty, and staff to explain the plans for accomplishing this challenging mission and, also, to solicit suggestions for improved services from a broad section of the College community. A project organization has been defined and approved that includes an executive committee, a steering committee, and several functional teams to represent the various facets of constituent services: admission, registration, financial aid, student financials, and residential life/student judiciary. The members of the committees are listed below. In addition, a consulting firm, Kaludis Consulting, has been retained to assist the College with the study. To date, the project committees and teams have met and prepared a project schedule for delivery of the recommendations for the best approach to accomplish the defined mission. The recommendations will include a project implementation plan with details of the time, cost, and human resources required to secure a new and improved student administrative system. This recommendation and detailed action plan will be completed in May of 2004 so that implementation efforts can be initiated by June. Any questions about this process can be directed to the chair of the steering committee, Larry Metzger. SIS Executive Committee
