The Ithaca College AIDS Working Group would like to encourage all members of the Ithaca community to take note and or attend the following events held in honor of World AIDS Day, Monday, December 1.
A film about AIDS in the world. A film about the way the world is. Not just a movie; a movement. A Closer Walk is the first film to depict humankind's confrontation with the global AIDS epidemic. The documentary was conceived by Robert Bilheimer and the late Jonathan Mann and it was envisioned as a bridge between the international AIDS community and the general public. It is the first global film to describe not only the breadth and destructive power of the pandemic, but its underlying social causes as well. Faculty are encouraged to post an announcement of this film in their classroom and to encourage students to attend. Check out the world map in the display case of the Campus Center lobby. It will give you an indication on the number of HIV/AIDS cases across the world. It will include tips on how you can support World AIDS Day and ways to effectively tackle HIV on an international level! |
