The Ithaca College Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform a free program of vocal and instrumental jazz on Monday, December 8.
The concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. in Ford Hall in the Whalen Center.
Composed of 16 singers and a 10-piece band, the ensemble is directed by Lauri Robinson-Keegan. The singers will perform accompanied by the band as well as a cappella. In addition, the band will perform instrumental selections. Program offerings will range from popular standards such as Give Me the Simple Life and You Go to My Head to a Ghanaian chant arranged by Walter White, the newest member of the School of Music's jazz faculty, and Corcovado, a selection from Paquito D'Rivera's 2003 Latin Grammy Award-winning album, Brazilian Dream. Additional offerings will be music written by Jerome Kern and arranged by Steve Brown, Dana Wilson, and Robinson-Keegan.
