Faculty Colloquium: Integrating Hands-on Data Analysis into Classes
Stephen Sweet, Elizabeth Callaghan, and Susanne Morgan, Sociology; and Patty Lynott, Gerontology
Thursday, February 5, 12:10-1:00 p.m.
Klingenstein Lounge, Campus Center

Last summer the Department of Sociology and two sociologists from DIIS participated in the Integrating Data Analysis project, jointly sponsored by the American Sociological Association and the National Science Foundation. At the University of Michigan, more than half of our department members developed assignments, learning modules and other student-centered activities using Census data and other sources of information. We will demonstrate new approaches to integrating data analysis in curriculum and how to involve students in hands-on social science research.

Please feel free to bring your lunch. Beverage and treats are provided. View upcoming faculty development events at the Center for Faculty Excellence.
