The Cleveland Duo and James Umble will give a free concert at Ithaca College on Monday, March 15, at 8:15 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall in the Whalen Center.
The program will include Bach's Concerto in D minor for two violins, John Adams's Consuelo's Dream and Pat's Aria, portions of Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin, and works by Robert Mueller, Evan Chambers, and Timothy Brady.
Established as a dynamic concert ensemble in 1980, the Cleveland Duo -- composed of violinist Stephen Warner and pianist and violinist Carolyn Gadiel Warner -- has combined with nationally-known saxophonist James Umble to form an exciting threesome that has redefined chamber music. The group's unusual combination of violins, piano, and saxophone affords a rare programming style that ranges from the traditional classical to folk, ethnic, avant-garde, and even jazz for any of the six possible combinations.
The Cleveland Duo and James Umble have performed together at major chamber music venues, festival sites, universities, and music conservatories throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
