"Fix-It Fridays" Begin this Week

Contributed by Ed Fuller on 03/12/04

Just a reminder that "Fix-It Fridays" will begin this coming Friday, March 19.

"Fix-It Friday" was established to provide a weekly window of time -- 4:00-8:00 p.m. each Friday -- to perform necessary maintenance on computers and network systems. During this time, important production systems (including e-mail, file servers, Parnassus systems, and others) and/or network communications may be unavailable. We will not use this time every Friday, nor will we take down all systems and the network on any given Friday.

On this first "Fix-It Friday," Novell servers (Memphis, Pulsar, Nova) will not be available. In addition, access to Gutenberg, the library catalog server, may be briefly interrupted.

You are encouraged to check the computing status page (see "System Notices" on the ITS home page) after noon on Wednesday for an update on services that will not be available Friday afternoon. Whenever possible we will post an announcement on the computing status page by noon on Wednesday of each week listing those systems and services that will be down during the upcoming Friday's fix-it window.

For "System Notices," visit Information Technology Services.
