Workshop

Judy Yung's faculty workshop on the development of the Asian American studies minor curriculum will take place on March 24 from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the Klingenstein Lounge. Advance sign-up is required.

Lecture

In addition to the faculty workshop, Yung will be presenting a lecture with the title, "Unbound Feet, Unbound Voices: A Slide Talk on Chinese American Women's History." This lecture will take place on March 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Textor 103. The event is free and open to the public with refreshments served afterwards.

Judy Yung is a second-generation Chinese American born and raised in San Francisco's Chinatown. She has served as a librarian, journalist, and director of two book projects. She is currently professor of American studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she teaches courses in Asian American studies, women's history, oral history, and mixed race identity. Professor Yung is the coauthor of Island: Poetry and History of Chinese Immigrants on Angel Island, 1910-1940, and the author of Chinese Women of America: A Pictorial History; the critically acclaimed Unbound Feet: A Social History of Chinese Women in San Francisco; and most recently, Unbound Voices: A Documentary History of Chinese Women in San Francisco.
