Workshop on LGBT Elders

Contributed by Terry Beckley on 03/22/04

The Ithaca College Gerontology Institute Workshop Series resumes on April 7 at 1:30 p.m. in Clark Lounge.

On April 7, the Tompkins County LGBT Working Group will present "Alphabet Soup: Meting the Needs of LGBT Elders (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender)."

Experts estimate there are currently between 1.75 and 3.5 million LGBT Americans age 60 and over. This workshop is designed to familiarize participants with the issues faced by LGBT elders, to sensitize frontline practitioners to the needs of this group, and to engage in exploration of the tools required for providing quality services through a commitment to inclusivity.

Ithaca College faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend free of charge on a space available basis. If you wish to attend you must register in advance.

Please go to ICGI Workshops and register online. Write in the comments section that you are faculty, staff, or student.

For further information contact Terry A. Beckley at 274-1967.
