Gordon Rowland will facilitate a workshop on "Sustainability and Organizational Planning" on Thursday, April 22, 12:10-1:00 p.m. in Klingenstein Lounge.
This is the fourth in a series of forums or "Sustainability Cafés" held this semester designed to stimulate a campus dialogue about environmental, social, and economic sustainability, assisted by a grant from the H&S Ithaca Fund.
Through a set of activities the workshop will examine some basic concepts of sustainability -- for example, systems thinking and interdependency -- and explore how those concepts are being applied and how they might be further applied in planning at Ithaca College.
Gordon Rowland is an associate professor of organizational communication, learning, and design at IC. He has authored an article, entitled "The Concept of Sustainability in the Evolutionary Guidance of an Educational Institution" (in press) that he would be happy to e-mail to anyone interested in reading on this topic in preparation for the Sustainability Café (rowland@ithaca.edu).
This workshop is also part of the Faculty Development Colloquium series. Refreshments will be served.
