John Confer, Vincent Frary (biology '04), and Elizabeth Silvia (environmental studies '04) obtained $6000 in funding from the New York State Electric and Gas Corporation.

This support will allow Frary and Silvia to monitor the distribution and abundance of birds on one mile of utility rights-of-way on the Ithaca College South Hill natural area. NYSEG will subsequently remove non-native shrubs. The grant will support avian monitoring by future students to determine if removal of non-native, invasive plants will enhance the avian community.
