Contributed by Jack Rossen on 04/26/04

Michael Taylor (Seneca) will discuss Native American film over the last 30 years on Wednesday, April 28, 5:25 p.m., in Textor 102.

His presentation will range from the Civil Rights era of protests through the making of the film Smoke Signals, a period that solidified the genre of current Native American filmmaking.

Smoke Signals, directed by Chris Eyre and starring Adam Beech and Gary Farmer, will be shown after the presentation. The film uses humor to smash stereotypes and is considered a watershed for the future of native filmmaking.

The talk and screening are free and open to the public. For more information, contact Jack Rossen, 274-3326
