It is with a great deal of sadness that I must inform the Ithaca College community of the death of one of our students. Christine Gagliardi, a sophomore from Columbia, Maryland, majoring in television/radio in the Park School of Communications, passed away yesterday morning, May 3, after an eight month battle with cancer.
I know that the entire College community joins me in extending our deepest condolences to Christine's family, friends, and classmates for their tragic loss. Counseling services for those members of the College community who may need assistance are available through the counseling center at 274-3136 and through the College chaplains.
An on-campus service to celebrate Christine's life will be held tonight, May 4, at 7:00 p.m. in Muller Chapel. Although this is a hectic time of the school year, Christine's friends and the Catholic Community still encourage all students, faculty, and staff who knew Christine to attend tonight for any amount of time that is possible. This truly means a great deal to Christine's family and friends.
Calling hours for Christine will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, and on Friday, May 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Witzke's Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Place, Ellicott City, MD 21043, 410-465-2848. Mass will be held on Saturday, May 8, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 3755 St. Paul Street, Ellicott City.
A peer, a friend, a sister, a daughter, an angel… she will never be forgotten.
