The Conference on Technology in the Humanities will conclude on Wednesday, May 26, with a presentation by Larry Johnson, CEO of the New Media Consortium.
His talk is titled "Pachyderm 2.0: Taking Technology by the Tusks." The Pachyderm 2.0 Project is an international effort funded by the US Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) that is bringing software development teams and digital library experts from five NMC universities together with counterparts from five major museums to create a new, open source authoring environment for creators of web-based and multimedia learning experiences. Ithaca College is a member of the New Media Consortium. Johnson's talk begins at 11:00 a.m. in Emerson A.
Preceding the talk at 9:00 a.m. on May 26 in Emerson A, there will be a panel discussion by participants in the recent Hewlett Collaborative Humanities Technology grant. Nancy Brcak and Stephen Clancy of the Department of Art History, and Hugh Egan, Katharine Kittredge, and Michael Twomey of the Department of English will speak about their experiences with using technology to foster student-faculty collaboration in humanities research.
Both the panel discussion and closing keynote are open to the public.
