Christopher Harper of the School of Communications has been chosen to become coauthor of the next edition of Writing and Reporting the News: A Coaching Method.

The book, published by Thomson/Wadsworth, ranks as the most frequently selected publication for journalism writing courses.

Harper, who holds the Roy H. Park Distinguished Chair in Communications, will join Carole Rich, who teaches at the University of Alaska. Professor Rich has written four previous editions of the book. The fifth edition will be published in February 2006.

The book will be the fifth Harper has edited or written since he arrived at Ithaca College in 1997.
