The culture and communication program in the Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies opens its season of First Fridays Salons discussions on September 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Park 220.
The September First Fridays Salons theme is "Disc-to-Pass: World Music as Communication."
Led by Robert Sullivan, assistant professor of speech communication and member of the culture and communication steering committee, the salon will focus on world music as a form of intercultural and international communication. Participants are invited to bring a "disc-to-pass" to share examples of music from around the world.
The First Fridays Salons for the culture and communication program are open to all members of the campus community. They feature informal discussion on topics related to culture and communication. The upcoming October First Fridays Salon will focus on the media representations and advertising campaigns of the presidential election.
