Pulitzer Prize winner Maxine Kumin will be the writing department's autumn Distinguished Visiting Writer.

She will be in residence to teach a master class to 15 student poets October 4-8. She will also appear in two public events -- a lecture, "The Paradoxical Freedom of Form," on Wednesday, October 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Park Hall Auditorium; and a reading of her poetry on Thursday, October 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suite C of Phillips Hall.

All are welcome to attend these two events at no charge. Refreshments will be served, and Kumin's books will be available for sale and autographing.
