The biology department offers a number of summer research opportunities for biology and biochemistry majors. There are also opportunities to conduct summer research at other institutions. The biology department expects to fund about 10 students in the summer. Students are selected on the basis of class rank, academic performance, academic background, and research experience. Some faculty members obtain their own funding through research grants and may hire students independent of departmental funds and based on their own criteria.
