he Department of Theatre Arts is pleased to announce a 90-minute lecture-demonstration with artists of the Beijing Opera.

The presentation is entitled Beijing Opera: Tradition, Techniques, and Characters.

The lecture covers the history and tradition of Chinese opera, and company members will demonstrate its musical forms and the four basic characters that appear in Beijing opera.

The lecture/demonstration is free and open to all faculty, staff, and students. It will be held noon-1:30 pm, Wednesday, September 29, in the Hoerner Theatre, Dillingham Center. There will be a brief pause at 12:50 to allow students to go to other classes, if need be.
