Kenny Christianson, academic consultant for the Office of Multicultural Affairs, was presented with the Ramona Barton Award at the New York State Association of Environmental Management Councils annual meeting in Madison, N.Y. on October 9.

The Ramona Barton Award is given each year to an outstanding Environmental Management Council member for his or her work on improving the environment in New York State. Christianson was cited for his work on energy issues in Tompkins County, including the Tompkins County Public Library solar panels, the Cities for Climate Protection Campaign's emissions reductions for county buildings, organizing an energy conference, and Tompkins County's recent goal of purchasing 5% of its electricity from renewable sources.

He has been a member of the Tompkins County Environmental Management Council since January 2000.
