Lecture on Baseball and Music

Contributed by Timothy Johnson on 10/24/04

Just in time for the World Series, assistant professor of music Timothy Johnson, will present a lecture, reading, and book signing entitled "Baseball in the Musical Manuscripts of Charles Ives."

This lecture is based on Johnson's recently published book, Baseball and the Music of Charles Ives: A Proving Ground (Scarecrow Press, 2004). Ives composed music that depicts baseball scenes featuring ballplayers from almost a century ago, including Hall-of-Famers such as Wee Willie Keeler.

This event is free and open to the public and will be held in Room 2105 (Iger Room) in the Whalen Center on Tuesday, October 26, at 7:00 pm. The book signing is sponsored by Hickey's Music Center and will occur immediately following the lecture.
