Howard K. Kalman, assistant professor OCLD, in collaboration with a colleague from East Carolina University, recently gave two refereed presentations at the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Conference held in Chicago, Illinois.
The first presentation, "Improving Computer Instruction: Experiments and Strategies," described strategies employed to accommodate students' broad range of computer skills in introductory technology classes. A James B. Pendleton Grant from the Roy H. Park School of Communications supported the implementation of classroom innovations for this instructional development project.
The second presentation, "Needs Analysis in Action: Professional Issues and Ethical Dilemmas," described errors in conducting needs analysis projects. Errors included lack of sponsor support, mismatch of consulting style, and the over collection and under collection of data. This presentation was part of a research project supported by the Center for Faculty Research and Development.
