Garry Thomas (anthropology) and Jason Hamilton (biology) presented a poster entitled "Towards Sustainability as 'Second Nature' at Ithaca College: The Multiplier Effect of an NSF Curriculum Development Grant."

The presentation was made in Portland, Oregon, on October 21-23 at a conference on sustainability and higher education cosponsored by Education for Sustainability Western Network and Second Nature.

The poster was coauthored by other members of the NSF Applying Science to Sustainability grant coordinating team, Susan Allen-Gil (biology), Liz Walker (director of EcoVillage), and Elan Shapiro (educational and outreach director of EcoVillage).

The conference focused on the connections between sustainability and higher education -- from teaching and research to campus operations, facilities, and community outreach -- and explored how colleges and universities could be transformed into models of sustainability.
