Temporary Bookstore Help

Contributed by Deborah Merriman on 12/03/04

Do you know someone in your family or in your neighborhood who would enjoy some challenging temporary work and some extra cash?

There are temporary positions available beginning Saturday, January 15, and continuing through Friday, January 21, in the IC bookstore. Duties include running a cash register, door checking, assisting with stocking shelves, and maintaining the store in neat order. Candidates must be available for a three-hour orientation period (1:00-4:00 p.m.) on Thursday, January 13, at the bookstore. Candidates must also be available to work on Saturday and Sunday, January 15-16. Although scheduled work hours vary, standard weekday hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; standard weekend hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work schedules will be provided.

Required qualifications: skill or experience in register or cash handling; good interpersonal skills; enjoy working with the public. Some experience in retail or bookstore work desired.

Persons age 16 or 17 are welcome to apply but will need to have working papers to present at the orientation. Persons age 18 and older will need to have two forms of identification with them at the orientation.

In order to be considered, interested candidates must visit the Ithaca College Job Site, go to "Search Positions," and search for "WORKER TEMPORARY" in the "Job Title" category. View the bookstore offering and proceed to complete an online application.

If you have questions, contact Mike Bovi, 274-3958, or stop in at the bookstore, 140 Phillips Hall, between Tuesday, January 4, and Friday, January 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
