On February 8, 2005, at about 9:15 p.m., an African American female student and an unidentified white male got on the East Tower elevator at the same time.

As the elevator was ascending, the male jumped up and down several times. The woman asked the person to stop jumping as it could affect the operation of the elevator. The male stated, "It's because of niggers like you that make me hate black people." The elevator stopped at her floor, at which time she exited the elevator.

The female student reported the incident to the Office of Public Safety, which is investigating this case of harassment.

The white male is described as: college age, medium build, blue eyes, blondish hair, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood up over his head.
