Ithaca College

Culture Link, the Ithaca College School of Music's second annual multicultural music festival, will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 18 and 19, in the third-floor auditorium at the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA), 330 E. State St., in Ithaca.

Featuring Bernard Woma, a Ghanaian master of the Dagara xylophone, the festival will include performances by the Ithaca College Steel Drum Band, Fife and Drum Ensemble, and Klezmorim.

The festival is being coordinated by Culture Link, a student organization striving to create a greater awareness and knowledge of many cultures through the sharing of ideas, resources, talents, and abilities. All events in the two-day festival are free, handicapped-accessible, and open to the public.

The schedule is as follows:

• 6:45 p.m. -- Performance by the Ithaca Children's Choir Choraliers, directed by Verna Brummett
• 7:45 p.m. -- Concert by the Ithaca College Steel Drum Band and the multicultural choir Voices, under the direction of Gordon Stout and Baruch Whitehead
• 8:30 p. m. -- Performance by Klezmorim playing music from the Eastern European Jewish Klezmer tradition

• 4:30 p.m. -- Informative performance and presentation by the Ithaca College Fife and Drum Ensemble, including a rich history of musical literature
• 5:30 p.m. -- Workshop and performance by School of Music senior Carrie Erving, reflecting on her recent travels to Ireland.
• 6:30 p.m. -- "Freedom Songs" -- South African and African American music, an informative session by Baruch Whitehead, assistant professor of music education.
• 7:30 p.m. -- Performance of dance and song by Bernard Woma, one of Ghana's foremost musicians and educators.
• 8:15 p.m. -- Closing Concert
