My Date with Drew is about Brian Herzlinger as he tries to get a date with his childhood crush, actress Drew Barrymore. Armed only with steadfast determination and an uninsured video camera, Brian will summon the powers of the Six Degrees of Separation, figuring he must know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who knows Drew. The film recently won the audience award for best feature at HBO's Comedy Arts Festival and New York's Gen Art Festival, and best documentary at the Vail Film Festival. Most recently, Gunn teamed up with Kerry David (executive producer, Agent Cody Banks, and Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London) to create Lucky Crow Films, which is currently preparing the theatrical release of My Date With Drew and in development on 65 Roses with William H. Macy. Jon and Kerry also co-own IndieProducer (www.indieproducer.net), a company dedicated to helping emerging filmmakers around the world get connected to Hollywood. Brett Winn '95 has been working in the film and television industry for nine years. He has written, produced, directed, and edited several short films, edited three feature films including Gunn's Mercy Streets and written two screenplays. For the last five years, he has been focused on movie marketing, where he has produced and edited award winning theatrical trailers and promos. Oddly enough, Brett worked on the campaigns for the last three Drew Barrymore films including: Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Duplex, and 50 First Dates. It was no surprise that his first feature film should involve Drew Barrymore. His recent theatrical trailers include Sharktale, Mr. 3000, Elektra, and the upcoming films Sky High and A Lot Like Love. Recently Brett and Brian launched a production company, Rusty Bear Entertainment, where they are currently in pre-production on a Christmas movie, a "Superbike" documentary and numerous television projects. Brian Herzlinger '97 served as director, producer, and editor for My Date with Drew. Some of his other credits include: Untitled Christmas Project chronicling the life of Santa Claus in the North Pole; Krutch an award winning film produced in High Definition about two high school reporters whose murder investigation of a famous rapper takes them to Las Vegas; Malicious Intent about a young boy who gets revenge on school bullies with the help of a demonic friend; and The Film Contest about two movie theater ushers who compete to see who gets promoted to projectionist. |
