Multiple Sclerosis Walk

Contributed by Doreen Hettich-Atkins on 03/18/05

Join the Ithaca College MS Walk team -- walk to cure multiple sclerosis (MS) on May 1, 2005.

MS usually strikes adults in the prime of life -- between the ages of 20 and 50. It is a chronic disease of the central nervous system affecting the brain and spinal cord. One new case of MS is diagnosed every hour. It comes and goes unpredictably, leaving people to wonder, "Will I become paralyzed or blind, or will I have trouble walking? Will I be able to raise my family and continue my career?"

I have a special connection to MS -- my husband was diagnosed when he was 32 and has been living with the uncertainties of MS every since.

Please join the Ithaca College MS Walk team, "IC a cure for MS", on May 1, 2005 at 9:00 am at Ithaca High School.

If you would like to walk or to donate funds to the team, please contact Doreen Hettich-Atkins, 274-3374. All walkers are asked to raise a minimum of $100.00 (which will earn you your walk T-shirt).

For more information on MS, check out the National Multiple Sclerosis Society website at www.nmss.org.

Doreen,

My personal thanks to you to becoming involved. I too have been touched by this disease through my daughter, a 1999 IC grad.

I hope and pray that a cure will be found for this disease...until it touches ones' life....you will never know how things will change your life forever.
