Assistant professor of politics Charles R. Venator Santiago presented a lecture, "Territorial Law and Military Detention Centers in Cuba," at Smith College, February 26, 2005.

He also participated with leading experts in Latin American law on a day long discussion on the topic, "Thinking of Law in/and Latin America." The panel was held at Harvard University, March 4, 2005, and was sponsored by the European Law Research Center.
