Critically acclaimed writer and performer Rich Kiamco performs his award winning one-man show Unaccessorized. on Wednesday, April 6, at 7:30pm in IC Square. Admission is free.

Show synopsis -- a Filipino man comes out at age 14, facing hate crimes at school, and the threat of electroshock therapy. Wrestling with his family's expectations of medical school and his dreams of fashion design, he flees the suburban cornfields of Illinois and escapes to the streets of New York City. This epic romp shreds cultural legacy and academic expectations with individuation and self-fulfillment into a hilariously insightful adventure.

Kiamco has performed at the National Filipino American Youth Association's showcase at Georgia State University and the Filipino Intercollegiate Network Dialogue at the College of Mt. St. Vincent. He was a featured expert on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, was a panelist on the Discovery Channel's Second Opinion and has also performed nationwide with comedian Judy Tenuta. His writing can be found in Take Out: Queer Writing From Asian Pacific America, Temple University Press and Queer Stories For Boys, a new anthology by Thunder's Mouth Press.

The event is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Asian Culture Club, LGBT Center and Diversity Awareness Committee.
