Jean Hardwick was awarded a grant titled, “Regulation of mammalian cardiac function”. The award is funded through the Faculty Development Summer Research Grants program.

This grant will study the regulation of the cardiac nervous system by the gaseous neurotransmitter, nitric oxide (NO). For these studies, we will look at both the localization and physiological actions of nitric oxide in an animal model. The results of this study should help to elucidate the role of NO in regulating cardiac function, both in healthy and diseased tissue.
