A Swedish Teaching Exchange

Contributed by Carole W. Dennis on 06/20/05

Carole Dennis, chair of the occupational therapy program, recently returned from three weeks of teaching in Jönköping, Sweden, as part of an exchange program with Ithaca College and Jönköping University.

She taught a course entitled Occupational Therapy Intervention for Children in English to a group of third year students from Sweden and one advanced student from Russia. This was an exciting multicultural experience that we hope marks the beginning of ongoing faculty exchanges.

Student exchanges began during the 2004-2005 academic year, when Meghan Anderer from occupational therapy (known as “arbetsterapi” in Swedish) and Andrew Baker from gerontology completed a semester of study at Jönköping University. Three students from Jönköping plan to study in the occupational therapy program at Ithaca College during the spring and fall of 2006.
