We are pleased to announce that ITS is now supporting the Apple iMac computer as a viable campus alternative.
This year, as an experiment, we have installed iMac computers in some of the campus labs and are adding the iMac as an option for Macintosh G4/G5 tower users who are scheduled for computer replacements this year under technology renewal. Because of its lower cost, the iMac has been added as a no-cost option for Dell computer users wishing to move from a PC desktop to a MAC desktop when their system comes up for renewal. An additional benefit of the iMac is its built-in 17” LCD display.
The iMac is now on QTrack for initial purchase.
If the iMac computers prove a successful alternative to the more expensive tower units, the College is considering moving to the iMac computer as the standard Apple desktop beginning FY06-07.
