Professor Asma Barlas had an active summer, participating in a variety of scholarly activities.

  • She was a visiting fellow at the International Center for Islam and Pluralism (ICIP) in Jakarta, Indonesia, in June.
  • The Indonesian translation of her book, Believing Women in Islam, was released during her trip.
  • In July, she made a presentation on academic freedom and Islamic feminism at an interfaith conference to which she had been invited, hosted by the Snowstar Institute in Canada.
  • In August, she participated in the Oxford Roundtable where she made a presentation on U.S. policies towards Muslims.
  • She also gave an informal talk at the invitation of the Muslim Parliament in London on the same subject.
