Public Safety Alert

Contributed by David Maley on 08/23/05

On Tuesday, August 23, the Office of Public Safety received two separate reports of incidents in which a male subject was seen peering into residence hall bathroom showers occupied by female students. The incidents occurred on Sunday, August 21, between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.

One student reported that while showering in the women’s bathroom on the 8th floor of the East Tower, she observed a subject crouched near the base of the shower curtain, looking up at her. She described him as a white male of college age, with an average build and short brown hair. He was wearing a lime green t-shirt.

A second student reported that while showering in the women’s bathroom on the 9th floor of the West Tower, she observed a subject peering into the shower at eye level. She described him as a white male of college age, with a stocky build and blond spiked, gelled hair. He was wearing a yellow shirt and khaki shorts.

During both incidents, the male subject departed the bathroom once eye contact had been made with the female student. Anyone with information about these incidents, or who has experienced a similar incident, should contact the Office of Public Safety at 274-3333.

Students should always report any suspicious people or activity. In cases of emergency, dial 911.

Perhaps the problem is that the showers in the towers and terraces have
sheets that don't properly cover the shower stalls. If we had stall doors
there wouldn't be a problem.

i concur. Shower doors would erase this problem.
