Confer, J. L., T. Hauck (Environmental Studies), M-E. Silvia (Environmental Studies) and V. Frary (Biology). 2005. "Managing Rights-of Way Shrublands for the Avian Community". In the Proceedings of the Seventh International Symposium on Environmental Concerns in Rights-of-Way Management.

The paper describes experimental management of vegetation on 6 segments of utility rights-of-way that enhanced avian diversity as the density of shrubs was reduced.
